One of the things that makes my new home so charming, is that elderly people (and people of all ages) ride their bicycles around town.
Every time I see that one of them meandering along, I’m transported to a more wholesome era. An era when people took time to enjoy enjoy a scenic ride to the grocery store, to wave and call out a greeting to their neighbor. It’s very Old Europe and I love it!
And yes, they do have baskets on their bikes. Is it strange that I love that so much? :)

That is something I´ve never noticed before. Yes I´ve seen them, but it´s nothing special to me. I guess that means I´ve lived here for too long.... :)
Now that I think of it, it is different from other places.
I can only imagine how much healthier they are by staying so active

Everyone has bikes too AND baskets too. Although it doesn't look quite to quaint. What surprises us is people transporting big boxes strapped onto their bikes, friends on the handle bars as well as holding umbrellas in the rain while navigating in traffic. Wild.

I love when I see an old man riding a bicycle, with his wife siting side-saddle on the back, behind him. Or when we visit a village church, and there's a huge parking lot of bicycles. :-)
It won't let me see the picture! wah! :( But it does sound very quaint! :) Maybe you should get your own! lol
