I'd like to introduce you to what locals call The Widow Maker. My husband refers to it as a Self Electrocution Kit.
We don't have a hot water heater so any water we want to warm has to be heated on demand with one of these fancy contraptions. It's a scary thought to have wires in your shower, believe me! And because we have a high mineral content in our water, I was getting shocked every time I tried to adjust the temperature of the water! Yikes!
Then some experienced missionary told us you can just put some hose on the shower handles and then you won't get shocked. Much better!
Thanks for reading the first installment of What's Different! Come back next Wednesday for more!

glad that you figured out a way not to be shocked! And I like your idea of having a "what's different" section on your blog - may have to adopt that!
Oh, I always hated those things! There was a guy in our neighborhood in Villavicencio that we knew who was electrocuted with one of them...after that I refused to use them unless absolutely necessary (like in Bogota). I hate getting shocked anyway!!!! What a wonderful solution!
Oh my goodness! I am so glad you have figured out how to not get shocked any more!!

oh, and btw, I lived in Hong Kong for 8 years, and could start my own "what's different" with stories form there!
Thanks for sharing!

Ah!!! That sounds scary! Glad you found a solution though. And I also love the idea of a "what's different" section. What a fun idea!
We don't have this problem anymore, but in our old house we did, and I remember that our girls didn't even want to take showers anymore. I believe you will find many more subjects for your "What's different" series. Thanks for your comment on my blog and for being a friend when I needed one this week! You're special!
The "what's different" titles are great...sharing YOUR world! Great.
Althought not to great to be shocked, scary. Good for you all to be resourceful.
It is hard sometimes to pray instead of DO. Makes us depend on God and HIM alone. Thanks for sharing.
Love your links to other posts. I am sure it helps current blog readers read some of your old posts.
Oh my goodness! I'd be so totally nervous! Good thing you found a soulution to your shocking problem~smile.

That is crazy! Electrical current running straight to your SHOWER??! I'm glad you got the tip of the hose over the handles.
So funny! My husband was just saying no one at work believes him when he tells them about the widow maker shower we experienced in Nicaragua. I do a little google search, your blog comes up and my friend Becky has already commented on this page! HA... small world. :)
