Hand Holding and Sitting By the Fire

Holding Hands

My honey was in the hospital for 3 1/2 days last week, so this weekend we did a lot hand holding, resting and basking the warmth of the crackling fire (it’s winter here!).  My soul feasted and was fed by God’s gracious favor.

Praying your soul was also fed this weekend as you enjoyed His good and perfect gifts!

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father…”  James 1:17

The Hidden Benefits of Moving

One of the hidden benefits of moving is finding your old love letters! It was so good to re-read them and just cherish the special moments each one represented. Here are a few of my favorites:

"He loves you."
You see, even the printer knows I love you (Honey original).

If I were the sun, I would write little notes to you on all the leaves with golden ink and leave them everywhere for you to find.

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

And my favorite...Nobody's grass is as green as ours.

Indeed...and nothing like a few love letters to bring blessings into perspective. I may not like moving...but at least I get to do it with the love of my life!

Coming Back Down to Earth

Well, I'm slowly coming back down to earth again after our amazing date!  We thoroughly enjoyed being spoiled!  Thanks so much to our generous friends for sending us away!

This was our room...very warm and relaxing!

It turned out that El Principito came with us since the little man wouldn't take a bottle no matter what we tried.  He was no trouble though and entertained himself for a long time in the mirror!  Grandma was disappointed she didn't get to keep him though!

The hotel, originally built in 1914, underwent a 38 million dollar renovation in 2000.  The woodwork is fabulous.  This is the Hall of the Doges (dough'jez) which actually predates the hotel by 10 years.  It was a local ballroom that they lifted in by crane during the renovation.  I didn't know they could do that!

Another favorite room of mine was the Marie Antoinette Ballroom, whose three original chandeliers were purchased for $10,000 each during a time when the average American's house cost $8,000.  Yikes!

And here's the proof that we were actually there!  Too bad Neil didn't happen to be visiting (he's listed amongst the famous guests, along with almost every president of the 20th century).

Can I Pray for That?

Honey was supposed to arrive home tonight, but when I got home from church, I found an e-mail from his airline saying he had been bumped until tomorrow! A quick call revealed that he was already at the airport, trying to work out a way to get home for Darling Little Redhead's 3rd birthday tomorrow.
Right now, he's on a flight to Salt Lake, where he will probably spend the night. UNLESS the flight from Salt Lake to here is delayed and he can catch it.
I started praying right away that the flight would be delayed. After all, it's been a few weeks and Darling Little Redhead needs his daddy (he woke up around midnight last night crying inconsolably for Daddy) and I'm anxious to see Honey too!
But then, I got to thinking...what if there's someone else praying that the flight will be on time? What if they are returning from an overseas tour of duty with the military and haven't seen their family in a year? Would they mind if the flight was a FEW minutes late...so we could be together tonight instead of tomorrow?
Or wait, what if they were rushing to the death bed of a dear friend and a few minutes would make all the difference? What then? Would I still pray for that flight to be delayed?

I guess I just settled on the fact that I'm so glad it's not really my job to figure out how prayers are answered! It's just my job to talk to God about the desires of my heart, trusting Him to respond in His infinite wisdom with what is absolutely best for me. He's been listening to seemingly conflicting prayers for eons (ever think about how believers on either side of a war both pray for victory?) and He isn't at all confused by them. He is amazing and so worthy of my praise, no matter when honey gets home!
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place...let us go right into the presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting Him." Hebrews 10:19 and 22
